Over the course of the last month RCNDE has had the opportunity to participate in two prestigious international research dissemination events in the field of NDT/NDE technology. RCNDE Director, Caroline Bull (AWE) delivered a plenary address titled ‘Updates on Developments at RCNDE’ at the 31st American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) Research Symposium, which took place in Columbus, Ohio on 26-29 June. The same event saw two more plenary talks by RCNDE academics: Dr Peter Huthwaite (Imperial College London) spoke on ‘Ultrasound Tomography for NDE’, while Dr Bruce Drinkwater’s (University of Bristol) talk was titled ‘Are the robots coming – perspectives on the use of low-cost mobile robotics in NDE’.
Only a few days later, RCNDE was active in another conference, this time on the other side of the Atlantic. The European Conference on NDT (ECNDT), the flagship event of the European Federation for Non-Destructive Testing (EFNDT), took place in Lisbon on 03-07 July, and featured talks and paper presentations from the RCNDE Management Team, as well as industrial, associate, and academic members. RCNDE shared a stand with the British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing (BINDT) at the exhibition that was running concurrently with the panel sessions, enabling us to
On both occasions, it was particularly exciting to see current FIND-CDT doctoral students included in the schedule, and a testament to the high quality of the research they conduct as part of the consortium.
The events also afforded the opportunity to reconnect with current members and collaborators and engage new potential partners. We hope to see these relationships flourish, and we are looking forward to meeting members of the NDE community again soon.
