Research: Measurement of microstructural damage in cylindrical components using guided waves
University: Imperial College
Sponsoring company: Guided Ultrasonics LTD (GUL)
Background: BSc MPhys (Honours) in Physics, University of Warwick, June 2015
This project involves guided wave testing of cylindrical components in chemical plants that are subject to extreme high temperature operational conditions. The aim of the project will be to investigate the nature of the damage to materials in these components and how this will affect the behaviour of guided waves. The knowledge will then be used to develop an approach to use guided wave testing for early detection and diagnosis of microstructural material damage
